The 270°Awning XL Freestanding LED Darche Eclipse, in the left sidedversion, has been developed to offer maximum protection around your vehicle during your 4x4, Camping and overlandingtrips. With a covered area of 11.5 m², a wind-tested self-supporting structure, white and amber LED lighting directly integrated into the arms and a 320 g/m² Polycotton Ripstop fabric, it is one of the most complete solutions in the Darche range to quickly create a real outdoor living space.
The result of more than two years of development andtesting, theEclipse 270 Freestanding LED Awning can be used without support poles in suitable conditions, while incorporating three support legs and guy wires to secure the installation when weather conditions deteriorate.
A 270° Awning Freestanding designed for travel 4x4
The Darche Eclipse 270 XL Freestanding LED Awning wraps around the side and rear of the vehicle to create a large area protected from the sun and weather.
When deployed, it offers up to 11.5 m² of coverage while keeping the floor largely clear thanks to its freestanding design.
Its quick opening allows you to create a comfortable space in a few minutes to cook, set up a table, access the trunk of the vehicle or simply enjoy a shaded area during bivouacs.
With the separately available Gen 2 Walls kit, the usable area can reach up to 20.5 m².

Wind-tested freestanding structure
Darche subjected theEclipse 270 Freestanding to a real-life test campaign for approximately 30 days to assess the structure's behaviour in the wind.
According to data provided by Darche, theAwning is approved by the manufacturer for self-supporting use up to 30 km/h of wind.
In Darche's tests, the structure also withstood higher speeds in some test configurations.
For maximum safety and better longevity of the product, however, we recommend that the three support legs and guy wires supplied be used systematically when conditions may change.

Failure points designed to protect the vehicle
The structure incorporates breakpoints specifically designed to control how certain components can fail in the event of extreme overload.
This design aims to limit the risk of greater damage to the vehicle and to allow for easier replacement of the affected components.
The various parts of theAwning are designed to be replaceable, making repairs easier and reducing their potential cost.
11.5 m² of coverage around the vehicle
Once opened, theAwning spreads out 270 degrees around thevehicle, from the side to the rear part.
This configuration offers up to 11.5 m² of protected space while maintaining a particularly usable shape for installing Campingfurniture, an outdoor kitchen or organizing bivouac equipment.
With the optional Gen 2 Walls installed, the total protected area can reach approximately 20.5 m².
Built-in white and amber LED lighting
Four arms of the structure directly integrate dual-color LED strips.
You can choose between:
- White lighting for maximum visibility
- Amber lighting for a warmer atmosphere
- Adjusting the light intensity
Since the lighting is directly integrated into the structure, no additional systems need to be suspended under theAwning during assembly.
A compatible external power supply is required.

X-Tube Aluminum Reinforced Arms
The support arms use an X-Tubeextruded aluminum alloy profile, developed to provide excellent rigidity while limiting weight.
The backplate, arms and joints were studied using advanced simulation techniques to optimize their strength, especially at the extremities where wind stresses can be high.
Polycotton Ripstop Canvas 320 g/m²
The main fabric is made of Ripstop Polycotton Heavy Duty 320 g/m², specially adapted for outdoor and overlanding use.
In particular, it benefits from:

Two-piece rear mounting plate
TheEclipse 270 uses a two-piece backplate, making it easy to disassemble theAwning when it needs to be transferred to another vehicle.
This design avoids a complete reinstallation of the fastening system with each vehicle change.
Fully enclosed carrying case
When theAwning is folded, a cover made of 820D Oxford polyester effectively protects the canvas and the structure against:
- Dust
- Mud
- Projections
- Debris encountered on the slopes
It also helps to protect the whole thing during long road or off-road trips.
Height-adjustable brackets
The adjustable mounting brackets allow the installation to be adapted to different heights of vehicles and racks.
TheAwning is suitable for configurations with a vehicle height between approximately 1400 and 2600 mm.
The maximum height available under theAwning can reach about 2600 mm, providing excellent space for standing circulation and also improving water evacuation.

Compatibility and important information
The brackets supplied with theAwning are suitable for many roof racks and steel roof baskets available on themarket.
Depending on the type of platform installed on your vehicle, additional long mounts may be required.

Before any installation, it is essential to check that your rack, roof platform and vehicle anchorage points are able to support the weight and stresses generated by theAwning.
TheAwning weighs about 26 kg.

Wind Use
Although theAwning is given by Darche for freestanding use up to 30 km/h, weather conditions can change quickly.
For optimal use, we recommend always extending the three support legs and securing theAwning correctly to the ground using the guy lines and pegs provided.
Important: When attached directly to a Rooftop Tent, the three support feet must be used at all times to prevent damage to the Rooftop Tent or its mounting system.
Walls Gen 2 available separately
Gen 2 Walls Darche for Awning 270° are available separately.
They attach directly to theEclipse 270 Freestanding to further enclose the living space and improve protection against:
- The wind
- Rain
- The sun
- Harsh weather conditions
With the Walls installed, the total covered area can reach approximately 20.5 m².
Version with Rooftop Tent access also available
Darche also offers a Eclipse 270 Freestanding + RTT Entryversion, specially designed for vehicles equipped with a Rooftop Tent.
This version incorporates a zippered opening to create a protected passage between theAwning and the ladder of the Rooftop Tent.
The other main features remain similar to those of this version.
Warranty
TheAwning Darche Eclipse 270 XL Freestanding LED comes with a 3-year manufacturer's warranty, in accordance with the warranty conditions Darche.
To preserve the product and limit stress on the structure, it is recommended to follow the installation instructions, deploy the supports when necessary and fold theAwning when weather conditions exceed the recommended limits of use.

Yes. It has been designed to operate in a freestanding configuration and Darche advertises wind resistance of up to 30 km/h freestandingmode.
However, for better safety and to preserve the structure in the long term, we recommend using the three support legs as soon as possible.
